Why and how to dry brush?
What is Dry Brushing?
Dry skin brushing is a natural skincare technique that involves dry brushing the body with a natural bristle brush. Detoxifying for the body, softening the skin and toning, dry brushing is an essential beauty gesture. We will see in this article how to do dry brushing and which brushes to use.
Benefits of dry brushing for the skin
- It removes dead cells and unclogs pores, leaving skin softer and smoother .
- Massage is said to help stimulate circulation and is an ally against cellulite . By making circular movements on the areas where cellulite tends to reside (on the thighs, stomach, buttocks, saddlebags, etc.), you stimulate the lymphatic system. This is called “ lymphatic drainage ”.
" Dry brushing stimulates lymphatic drainage, promoting the passage of nutrients from the blood to the cells while flushing out toxins. Responsible for about 15% of the circulation of fluids in the body, your lymphatic system carries white blood cells that help the body to get rid of toxic substances .”, as Vicky Vlachonis, osteopath and pain specialist, declares in the book “Natural Beauty by Goop” by Gwyneth Paltrow .
- Your moisturizer will be more effective because you will have eliminated dead cells .
How to dry brush?
It only takes 5 to 10 minutes a day to feel the benefits of this body routine. It can be done daily, as a treatment, or twice a week. For maintenance, weekly brushing is sufficient.
Be careful, it is best to be gentle when brushing so as not to irritate the skin. At first the epidermis may not be accustomed to it, so you should not press too hard on the brush to get used to it. As you brush, you will find the ideal pressure for your skin.
Brushing technique
- Start at the feet, bottom, top, then go up the legs making small circles to the top of the thighs.
- Rub your hands and arms down to your armpits, before focusing on your back (a long handle can be helpful, or helpful) and buttocks.
- Move to the stomach and delicately touch yourself, then the chest and the back of the neck.
- Rinse yourself at the end of brushing! Go in the shower to rinse off with water
